Watching the Ocean Batter Amphitrite Point

September 28th, 2007
This is another shot of the Amphitrite Lighthouse in Ucluelet, BC. Watching the waves pound this exposed peninsula is as mesmeric a sight as there is in this little world, and I hope to one day view a winter storm move in on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Song of the Day: John Vanderslice - White Dove
Ooh, boy. I’m a little late in posting this song, as Vanderslice released Emerald City in July. I just stumbled upon this song a few weeks ago, and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since. Vanderslice is able to reach the ugly depths of society like few musicians can. In this case, he begins describing the kidnapping of his neighbor’s daughter, but then investigates the symbolism of the white dove of peace, and its apparent absence in a world of murder, war, and violence. If this song doesn’t cut through you with raw despair, nothing will. “White dove, what are you thinking of? Don’t come around here no more. It’s not about mercy… not about tears any more.” This is one of the most relevant and poignant songs I’ve heard in a long time, and if you’re socially conscious, not to be passed over. An incredible work of profound depth.
Happy Birthday, Tully!
Good perspective in this shot the man adds scale and really gives depth to this pic. Nice PP to boot.
