Over the Edge

Taken at the dam at the Cross River Resevoir in Westchester, NY. These Geese spent at least an hour staring over the edge of the waterfall adjacent to the damn. Despite the fact that this was taken at iso 100, it is a little bit noiser than I would have liked. I’m not really sure why.
This is also image number 100 for OpticDistraction!
I agree with Thom: great contrast. Love the tiny ripples on the water. The geese really do seem to concentrate very hard on watching something ;-). (Noise at ISO 100 may also occur, when you underexpose an image and try to correct this in your RAW file. Don’t know, if this applies to your image here though…)
Great colours and tones. Geese are not the brightest birds around.
awesome. the colors work so well, and the composition is perfect.
really nice, Justo. of course i love the color .geese may not be so bright, but did you know they mate for life? maybe that’s an indicator of their ……stupidity???
A simple and dynamic picture. I love this mix of nature and city.
Ella, you’re exactly right. This was an underexposed RAW image that I adjusted. I guess I should pay more attention to the histogram next time. Thanks!
Awesome - the warm yet metallic tones of the water are an amazing contrast to the cold concrete backdrop. I think this image would be amazing even without the geese, and with them as an extra subject, I think this is one of the best on Optic Distraction. I’d still push those bacteria-laden flying super-rats off that waterfall in a second, though.
