Home Sweet Home

OK, I know, nothing special about this image in the artistic sense. However, I just spent 22 hours on a bus from Long Beach, California to Montrose, Colorado anxiously awaiting this view. This is my parents’ beautiful new house outside of Telluride, and this sunset upon my arrival was a much-needed reinvigoration. Home Sweet Home for the next six weeks… SO sweet…
I listened to over 300 songs on my Greyhound adventure, and time after time, I just can’t believe how great Radiohead is. Anyone who claims Radiohead is inaccessible is greatly mistaken. Gagging Order is a 2004 B-Side, and those poor souls who have failed to give themselves the time to appreciate Kid A and Amnesiac will be pleased to see a return to unaccompanied acoustic guitars. I’ve seen this song interpreted in two ways: in one case, it is about the band driving by the scene of a murder on the streets of New York, and in the other, an autobiographical account of Thom Yorke’s assault in England. Either way, the finger picked major chords and descending bass lines provide an oddly upbeat soundtrack to a troubling story. I know Radiohead isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there is certainly a reason why I have a hard time imagining any musicians coming around that I enjoy more than those Oxford boys. They’re nothing if not consistently impressive.
is that a coyote i see there? oh wait. not anymore its not. not anymore.
