The Oasis

I took this yesterday prior to surfing in Shark Harbor on the west side of Catalina. I’m reasonably certain that the pool in the foreground is fresh water fed by a stream running through the canyon… though there must be some spring water too, because it hasn’t rained here in over a month.
I like this photo, but not as much as I’d hoped. It feels like something is missing to me, though I can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps a bison… being picked up by a bald eagle… yeah, that might do it. Anyway, it’s a good experiment in landscape photography as it is a genre in which I am not as well-versed.
if i was a cowboy i would sit down here, kick off my boots rest my dawgs in the water and sing about how my wife just left me for my cousin who is really her brother. in other words beautiful, simply beautiful man.
Spectacurlar natural scene, and excellent composition. The clouds are perfect staying just on one side and allowing the branch in the water to remain the primary point of interest.
i like this one. the blue sky is such a brilliant contrast to the dullness of the landscape. and the water with the dead log in it is a striking centerpiece. i dont think you need the eagle preying on the bison!
