Ugly Birds?

I had a group of students out here last week that were from the center of the city of Phoenix. They were pretty funny to teach because they thought everything ocean-related was gross, or at the very least, ugly. How does one come to feel that a pelican is ugly?

It will probably take some effort on the side of most people to appreciate Zach Condon’s gypsy-influenced take on music. But it would be a shame to not give him the chance, because he makes some stunning stuff. I have been listening to this song for months now, and I have no idea why I haven’t gotten around to posting it. Highly recommended if you’re willing to venture away from radio-friendly pop. Plus, it also reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Life Aquatic:
Hennessey: “I’m so pissed I could spit. [Spits.] Hugo, tell Carl to load my elephant gun with buckshot. We’re gonna hunt down these sickos.”

Inner-city kids are different. They don’t know much beyond their own experiences. I’ve heard stories about some inner-city kids (not Phoenix) having trouble understanding the beauty of trees. It’s sad but it’s also true.
Here’s one Arizonan who LOVES the ocean and ocean life. And I love this shot. It’s gorgeous.
well i’ve lived in the city my whole life, well, fourteen years! and i’ve came to appreciate the beauty of everything. what if the birds think us, humans are ugly? they probably do. i would.
