Suckers...

This is a close up of a California Two-Spotted Octopus’ suckers. I have been wanting to capture something like this for a long time, but after I shot it I hesitated to post it just because of all the scratches on the glass of the aquarium that make it seem noisy. As a result, I think I like the thumbnail more than the actual image, but it’s still an interesting abstract shot…I guess.
My song of the day is I Want You To Hurry by River Deep. I don’t have anything else by this guy, but I have been listening to this song every day as of late. Folk songs with just a voice and guitar rarely interest me all that much unless it’s Elliott Smith or Nick Drake, but there’s something intangible about this song that keeps me coming back. I hope you enjoy it as well.
By the way, Be He Me, the album I recommended last Wednesday by Annuals, just received a 7.8 rating out of 10 on the ever-influential Pitchfork Media, along with an inclusion on their “Recommended” list… You heard it here first!
I really like this shot - I think the wall of the aquarium gives it a really interesting flatness, actually. You can tell right away that they’re suckers but since there is a flatness to the image it makes it much more geometrical than it would be otherwise. it gets you looking at patterns and not trying to figure out what its a picture of. Nice one T.
