Sky to Ocean

This is Rachel hiking back from Salta Verde beach to Toyon Bay. Obviously, this is quite different than most images I put up here, but that was the whole point. There is something timeless about hiking on a mountaintop that overlooks the ocean - I’m sure that the first people to stand on this ridge and look out into the deep blue Pacific ocean were thinking similar things to us. And as such, I thought this photo could have happened in any era and wanted to give an old, aged feel to the photograph.
Song of the Day: Menomena - Ghostship
I suppose it’s been six weeks since I spewed all my love for Menomena. Six weeks is long enough to post about them again, right? Alright, well, even if you’re tired of them, I’m not. And here’s why: this song’s timing is so bizarre. It’s in 7/4 meter, but it alternates strumming one chord for 4 beats, one for 3. Then the next time around the first chord is only strummed for 3 beats, and the next chord for 4. It’s very weird. And yet, you barely notice because it’s so smoothly done. And the lyrics are awesome, too… ”This analogy only fits when I bow and call you majesty. Her majesty sails all across the sea.”
