I have been saving this photo for a long time now, but I decided tonight that I really don’t know what I’m saving it for. This is probably one of, if not the, best photos I’ve ever taken. The subject is a bell tower in downtown Minneapolis with a late afternoon winter sun casting shadows through a plume of steam rising from a heating plant. This photo was shot from a car, so the fact that it was exposed and composed this well is a miracle to me. So after a long time being held from posting, here is my favorite photo.
WOW! It reminds me of a film noir scene because it’s shot from a low angle and contains all that deep shadow and contrast. Really nice job here! (I just fell in love with your blog, by the way. Both of you are awesome.)
the smoke plumes take me from screen right to screen left, perhaps to an ominous path hiding..?
This IS a beautiful shot. Kathleen is right; both of you are awesome!
Tulls this reminds me of the last scenes of Vertigo in the bell tower which are amazing. I love the shadows on the building on the left. This is breathtaking. Well done.
I am stunned, such a great picture. There’s something dark and powerful about it.
Contrrrrrrrrrast. Light and shadows…..and a good eye….= a great shot!
Beautiful shot!
Smoke is so vibrant. :-)
I love it. The contrast is awesome, as are the shadows on the buildings on the left. Cooooool.
