Drift Back

I’m finally back! Kudos to my opticDistraction partner Justin for pushing through a month without any contribution from myself. Despite just returning to the world of the internet, I have had a chance to peruse his images over the last month and his work is quite impressive! While Justin was being productive, I went to Vancouver Island for three weeks in July and August, and had an amazing kayak adventure in the Broken Group Islands. There will be many more pictures from this trip, but here’s the first. I shot mainly black and white on the trip, partly as a challenge to myself and partly due to consistently gray skies. This first image is a piece of gnarled driftwood - and after tidepooling around these islands, it became clear that one could make a whole series out of the interesting shapes in driftwood.
Song of the Return: The New Pornographers - The Bleeding Heart Show
In honor of the release of the Porno’s new album, Challenger, a great track from their last release, Twin Cinema.
You’re back! I’m so happy. I like the movement in this shot. Welcome back, T.
