Born on the Cusp

A good example of the constant battle for life in the desert. This little plant is growing on the edge of both a cliff and the Catalina interior ridge road. I took this two days ago on a hike with Nora, right before we realized that we were going to need to run down from the top of the mountain if we wanted dinner. So we ran 3 miles downhill and dropped about 1500 feet of elevation to Toyon Bay. My legs are still sore. It remains to be seen if I will ever go on a hike with Nora again.

Love the lighting and colors of this shot!
