Blinking Lights and Other Revelations

I finally made time to go take some nighttime photographs Tuesday night. I was grateful to get some much needed time to myself, but was not nearly as productive as I’d hoped. Unfortunately, the moon was really bright, so my exposure lengths were not nearly long enough to get good motion and the foreground was too bright. I’ll probably end up using one of them, but I need to go again when it’s a new moon. Anyway, this shot is of my little island home in Toyon Bay from the mountains above it.

Wow, this is really great. It almost looks like a train model of a little town. I love the colors in the opening - the red in the trees, even if its just from the lights, and I love how the roofs remain dark. The juxtaposition of the dark surroundings really isolates the town and makes it feel as small as it looks. really nice shot.
